Glad for them-their journey through pain and sadness is finally over-but Oh-so-sad for us. Love you, Laura dear, and I'm sure your mother is smiling in Heaven about the wonderful writings of her girl today! Laura, I spoke at my own son's funeral just nearly three years ago.

I knew the moment we walked away from his lifeless temple that God had a message for those who attended his funeral and I was the one to deliver it. After all, no one else knew him the way I did.

All I can say is the grace of God carried through every step. I was overwhelmed by the love of all who attended. I had no idea how many people had come - when they seated us for the service, we walked the aisle and passed them all by - but all I could see was my son's casket and body laid out in front of the altar flowers I had arranged just a few days before. There in that church where we had grown as a family, been baptized and saved and served in ministry - I bid my son goodbye... not forever, just for a little while.

I can so relate to every word - the young man who sang Mercy Me's "Homesick" for us said he could not let himself look at me or he would have never made it through the song.

It was a bitter-sweet day, and I talked of how my boy was in Heaven - rolling the streets of gold with his skateboard with Jesus. He, too, was in an accident.

Beautifully written, poignantly displayed - the muddled mind and heart of one in the first stages of grief.

Your comments on my "Momma's Girl" post encouraged me greatly, thank you.

Blessings.

Blessings.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16192231917797056935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3229893110659808723.post-85217317894558737532008-07-11T22:21:00.000-05:002008-07-11T22:21:00.000-05:00This is so touching.
